Abstract

Professional golf instructor, Julius Richardson, describes his early years in the coal mining towns of Western Pennsylvania. He offers his family background, and an interesting twist that his mother was a Poindexter who married a Richardson and his mother's brother, a Poindexter married his father's sister, a Richardson. Noted professional golf instructor, Julius Richardson, describes his lifegrwoing up all across Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia mining town. His taste for adventure stoked by literature like Gunga Din, the Illiad and the Odyssey, Richardson beged his father to let him join the Army. He joined the service before the start of WWII, and found he was no match for the professional soldiers of that time. Soon, his skills were up to par and Richardson joined the famed 10th Calvary, the Buffalo Soldiers. Noted golf instructor, Julius Richardson, descibes his life in the Army just before and during WWII. He discusses life in the 10th Calvary, the famed Buffolo Soldiers unit. He also remebers fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and later, the Korean War. RIchardson also shares details of the demise of his first marriage and the start of his second marriage and birth of his children.
