Abstract

Warren Strudwick recalls his family background and his parents. He also shares his memories of growing up in Durham, North Carolina, including his early school years. Warren Strudwick details his school experiences, from elementary school through medical school at Howard University. He also discusses his church participation and his stint in the military. Warren Strudwick remembers his medical education at Howard University, and reflects on some of the changes in health care since his residency. He discusses in particular the problems with the "managed care" system, and how violent crime has affected his profession. Warren Strudwick discusses his family's legacy in the medical profession. He shares his advice for young people in the medical field, and reflects on changes in the practice during his lifetime.
