Abstract

Betty Currie remembers her family members and her childhood. Betty Currie discusses her early career path, from the Great Lakes Naval Base to several Democratic presidential campaigns. Betty Currie recalls her work for the 1992 Clinton presidential campaign and the transition to her career as his personal secretary. She also shares anecdotes about everyday life at the Oval Office under Bill Clinton. Betty Currie recalls President Clinton's first term in office, the 1996 re-election campaign, and shares stories from his second term. She also discusses the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Betty Currie recalls President Clinton's second term in office, particularly the events surrounding the Monica Lewinsky scandal. She then discusses her activities since leaving White House, and notes changes in White House procedure under George W. Bush. Betty Currie sums up her experiences working in the White House, including her impressions of various Clinton family and friends. She also discusses her hopes for the black community and her legacy. Currie then presents Socks, the Clinton's pet cat, as well as several family photographs.
