Abstract
Arthur Turner shares pieces of his family background, and recalls his childhood years. He remembers growing up in Lawndale, Illinois, and summer visits to Mississippi. Arthur Turner recalls his church activities and his close-knit family life. He recounts his turbulent college years, and discusses how his early career led him into politics. Arthur Turner reflects on his nearly twenty years in the Illinois General Assembly. He discusses the contributions of African American legislators to Illinois politics, and considers his own legacy as a State Representative. He also discusses the importance of education.
