Abstract

James Kaiser recalls his family background, and explains his parents' relatively light complexion. He also shares childhood memories, including his parents' involvement in civil rights activities. James Kaiser recalls his high school family life, including his parents' separation, their move to Los Angeles, and his brother's stint in the military. He remembers his high school activities and explains his decision to attend UCLA. He also discusses his pride in his heritage. James Kaiser details his experiences at UCLA and his tour of duty in Vietnam. He also recalls his early career with Corning, Inc. James Kaiser details his career with Corning, Inc, and his continuing education at MIT. He also discusses being passed over for a promotion because of race. James Kaiser explains why he retired from Corning and bought his own car dealership. He shares his advice for young people and African Americans in the corporate world, and discusses his ideas for giving back to the African American community.
