Born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1954, Ho-Thanh Nguyen lived a happy life until it was disrupted by war. When Saigon was evacuated on April 28, 1975, Nguyen fled from the burning city with her younger brothers and sisters - the beginning of a weeklong journey across the ocean. Circumstance brought them to Indiantown Gap in June of 1975, where they were sponsored by a Lebanon church. Two years later Nguyen and her new husband, also a Vietnamese refugee, settled in Camp Hill. She became involved in the YWCA domestic services in 1999 and later founded the Pennsylvania Immigrant and Refugee Women's Network, which connected women with networking and leadership training services, among others.
