Lee E. Anthony was born in Harrisburg on Forster Street. His father was a motorman at Harrisburg Traction Company - the streetcar line - and Anthony recalls how children pulled pranks and derailed streetcars by placing pennies on the track. For nickel at each area, you could ride the trolley from 20th and State streets to Hummelstown, go back through Harrisburg, up Market and Derry to Paxtang and Hershey, have a picnic and then return home. When Anthony's father died in 1930, the family of nine children moved to Allison Hill. His mother worked in a dress factory by day and cleaned it by night. Anthony has fond memories of the zoo in Wildwood Park, where he now walks once a week with his grandson. He previously worked in advertising sales for The Patriot-News.
