Born in India, Dr. Nirmal Joshi arrived in Harrisburg at age 25. Growing up in India, Joshi was part of a very supportive extended family that emphasized hard work and education. His father was a surgeon, and proudly helped many people in the village. Dr. Nirmal Joshi's first medical position was at the Hershey Medical Center, where he had training in infectious diseases and where his wife trained as an endocrinologist. The couple then moved to Harrisburg to set up a practice. They found friends through their Hindu Temple and have witnessed a growing population of professional Indians and other immigrants in the Harrisburg community. A lover of music, Dr. Joshi started an AM Indian radio program in 1993.
