Young George Moffitt recalls days in the 1930s when he enjoyed the "talkies" at the Market Street theaters and paid 10 cents to see a Tom Mix adventure. He and his friend Buddy Mitchell rode horses on Mitchell's father's 1,000-acre land tract near Linglestown Road and paddled a canoe through a neighbor's barn during the flood of 1936. A third-generation physician, Dr. Moffitt went to Princeton University, then joined the Navy's V-12 Program and went on to finish medical school in 1947. Moffitt began his Harrisburg practice in 1964. He later founded the Moffitt Heart and Vascular Group in south Harrisburg, which grew to include 20 doctors.
